A FILIPINO sailor from Pampanga serving at a United States Navy hospital in Guam has been featured in an article in American Connections Media Outreach.
Petty Officer 1st Class William Cruz mainly serves at the Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command.A graduate of the Pampanga Agricultural College in 1989, Cruz joined the US Navy in 2007 and serves as the hospital's corpsman.He said the skills and values needed to succeed in the US Navy are not foreign to him.'I was in the Boy Scouts and did a lot of volunteering,' Cruz told American Connections. 'The Navy is also a volunteer organization.
11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the US, he was in Saipan, and the tragedy motivated him to serve.'I also wanted to protect my kids. I have a lot of friends in the Navy, and it's the best,' he said.Cruz said he had many opportunities to 'achieve accomplishments' while serving in the military and that he can take pride in serving the US through his service.'Service in the Navy is not just about me. I serve junior sailors, senior sailors, retirees and dependents.
