Despite facing severe challenges in 2024, the Philippine has proven itself resilient and succeeded in weathering all of it, Department of National Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. announced. “In 2024, the Philippines faced and overcame both literal and figurative storms, from natural disasters to challenges to our sovereignty and territorial integrity,” he said in his New Year’s Message forwarded to reporters Tuesday.
Teodoro also said the country’s resilience in rising above these trials was made possible by the dedication of all Filipino men and women in uniform, civil defense officers, first responders, strong defense partnerships, and government support. Also of importance in facing these challenges are the unwavering solidarity and resilience of the Filipino people, he added. “To say that the nation endured its share of challenges in 2024 would be an understatement. Yet, amidst these trials, we also achieved significant victories – moments of triumph for which we are deeply grateful,” the DND chief stressed. Teodoro added that they are looking forward to 2025 and with its promise of a bright and promising future for the Philippines. “ secure, climate-resilient, archipelagic nation poised to be a strategic global player, and a stable platform for true national development and progress,” he said.
