Philippines to Host 2nd ASEAN Regional Correctional Conference

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) will host the 2nd ASEAN Regional Correctional Conference in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, from February 14 to 17, 2025. The event, titled 'Shaping the Future of Corrections Together,' will bring together leaders from ASEAN prison services to discuss shared challenges, exchange best practices, and collaborate on transforming regional correctional systems.

THE Bureau of Corrections said it would host the 2nd Asean Regional Correctional Conference in Puerto Princesa, Palawan, from Feb. 14 to 17, 2025.The event, titled 'Shaping the Future of Corrections Together,' would bring together leaders from Asean prison services to discuss shared challenges, exchange best practices, and collaborate on transforming regional correctional systems, the BuCor added.This is the first time the Philippines would be hosting the event.

said among the topics to be discussed in the summit include alternative sentencing measures to reduce incarceration rates, inmate rehabilitation programs aimed at fostering successful reintegration into society, community reintegration initiatives that support former inmates, digital transformation in prison management focusing on the adoption of new technologies for improved administration, as well as enhanced inmate documentation and data-sharing for better transparency and accountability.
