THE stars aligned perfectly for a magical moment in Manila on Friday night.The Philippine men's national football team made a historic feat after ending a 52-year drought against two-time defending champion Thailand, 2-1, in the first leg of the Asean Mitsubishi Electric Cup 2024 semifinals at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Malate, Manila.
Philippines' goalkeeper Quincy Kammeraad understood the assignment, and filled in the shoes of Patrick Deyto, who was injured after a save on Thailand's team captain Peeradol Chamrasamee's kick in the 94th minute.The Filipinos showed heart as Linares found an opportunity during the scramble and put on a header that led the Philippines to escape with a victory.
