This sentiment was conveyed by PN chief Rear Adm. Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta following a courtesy call by Ambassador Marie Fontanel at the Navy headquarters in Naval Station Jose Andrada in Manila on January 14, according to a press release.
Ambassador Fontanel extended her congratulations to Rear Admiral Ezpeleta on his recent appointment and engaged in discussions about potential cooperation initiatives. These included the deployment of the 'CLEMENCEAU 25' French carrier strike group in the Indo-Pacific and France's ongoing participation in the Armed Forces of the Philippines modernization program. A carrier strike group is a highly adaptable naval force capable of operating in both confined and open waters, regardless of time of day, weather conditions, or geographical location. The CLEMENCEAU 25 comprises the aircraft carrier FS Charles De Gaulle, its accompanying air group, three escorting frigates, a fleet oiler, and a nuclear-powered attack submarine. This contingent commenced its deployment from its home port of Toulon in late November and is scheduled to cruise around the Red Sea before proceeding to the Indo-Pacific.Rear Admiral Ezpeleta expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with the French Navy and its carrier strike group deployment, stating, 'We are looking forward to working with you and are very excited to see all the capabilities.'
