The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) continues to empower farmers' cooperatives across the Philippines, leading to increased agricultural productivity and economic diversification.

Farmers' cooperatives across the Philippines continue to thrive, fueled by the Department of Agrarian Reform's (DAR) unwavering support. These cooperatives, often operating in rural communities, are not only sustaining their agricultural operations but also venturing into food processing businesses, diversifying their income streams and contributing to the nation's food security. One shining example is the Palangue Agrarian Reform Cooperative (PARC) in Naic, Cavite.

Established in 1995 with a modest capital of P21,100 from 34 members, PARC has blossomed over the years thanks to DAR's continuous assistance. The department has equipped PARC with essential resources, including farm machinery, irrigation systems, farm-to-market roads, financial loans, and comprehensive training programs. These investments have enabled PARC members to expand their rice and vegetable farming operations, ensuring a steady income and contributing to the local economy.Recently, DAR provided PARC with a state-of-the-art, 200-square-meter vegetable greenhouse powered by solar energy. This P1-million facility, funded under the Sustainable and Resilient Agrarian Reform Communities project, boasts a solar-powered drip irrigation and fertigation system, allowing for year-round vegetable production. This innovation not only combats the challenges of climate change but also safeguards crops against extreme weather conditions, ensuring consistent harvests and reducing vulnerability to unpredictable weather patterns. Beyond infrastructure, DAR has empowered PARC through a plant nursery, farm machines, and a food processing facility. This food processing capability has opened new avenues for PARC members, allowing them to produce value-added products like ube jam, cucumber juice with honey, and pickled papaya. These diversified products generate additional income, reduce food waste during periods of oversupply, and contribute to the local market.DAR has also recognized the importance of education in sustainable agriculture. It established a learning site within PARC, making it the first agriculture learning site in Calabarzon accredited by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) of the Department of Agriculture. This initiative empowers agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) and aspiring farmers with modern and sustainable farming techniques, enhancing their productivity and profitability. To further support ARBs, DAR ensures their access to legal assistance through its PBD Lawyering initiative under the Agrarian Justice Delivery Program (AJDP). This program offers legal counseling, mediation, and representation in judicial and quasi-judicial bodies, guaranteeing that farmer-beneficiaries receive the justice they deserve.
