The Department of Transportation announced its intention to transfer the operations and maintenance (O&M) of several major transportation projects to the private sector. This includes airports in Iloilo, Puerto Princesa, Bohol-Panglao, and Mactan-Cebu, as well as the Metro Rail Transit Line-3. The goal is to enhance operational efficiency.
The Department of Transportation said it would hand over the operations and maintenance of major transportation projects to the private sector to ensure operational efficiency, according to Secretary Jaime Bautista.
“Within next month we will award another airport, which is the Bohol-Panglao International Airport. Next year, we’re looking at privatizing Iloilo and Puerto Princesa Airports,” Bautista said. “We are evaluating it, although in parallel with that, we are looking at the possibility of making it a solicited ,” he said.
