SEN. Bong Go, chairman of the Senate Committee on Health , praised the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (Phil Health ) for introducing a new benefit package designed to address acute myocardial infarction (AMI), commonly known as heart attack s.This package targets one of the leading causes of mortality in the country and offers financial coverage for procedures such as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and fibrinolysis.

'Our efforts are worthwhile, but we will not rest until they have fulfilled all their promises to provide these additional benefits,' Go said.He stressed the importance of PhilHealth consistently implementing these programs and meeting its obligations to members.'This is great news for Filipinos, particularly those struggling to access these services. However, it is crucial that PhilHealth ensures smooth and continuous implementation,' Go added.He also stressed the importance of improving financial risk protection for beneficiaries, particularly in rural areas with limited access to health care.The recently launched benefit package includes four components: 1. Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI): P523,853; 2. Fibrinolysis: P133,500; 3. Emergency medical services with coordinated referral and interfacility transfer: P21,900; 4. Cardiac rehabilitation: P66,140.The package is expected to cover expenses for essential services, including emergency care, diagnostic tests, and specialized treatments for heart attack patients. Accredited health care facilities at Levels 1 to 3 will provide these services.PhilHealth, in collaboration with the Department of Health (DOH), aims to address the growing burden of cardiovascular diseases, which account for a significant portion of the country's deaths.The measures were developed following a series of Senate hearings chaired by Go this yea
