The Philippine Red Cross received a P10 million donation from the House of Representatives in response to its call for help for Türkiye-Syria earthquake victims.PRC Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard Gordon received the aid on Feb. 14 at the Batasang Pambansa in Quezon City.
The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye has recently asked for assistance from PRC in collecting donations for the quake victims. “This donation from Congress is a very important gesture to show Türkiye our solidarity as they showed us in Haiyan. The donation is critical, especially during this time because this is the coldest time of the year for the affected regions. We cannot begin to imagine what our Turkish brothers and sisters are going through, those who survived the quake and are left without shelter out in the cold facing freezing conditions,” Gordon said in his speech.
Türkiye was among the first to respond and send assistance to the Philippines after the super typhoon Yolanda onslaught in 2013.
