ACTIVE transport, or active mobility as it is sometimes described, is the catch-all term for transportation that does not require motorized vehicles, primarily walking and bicycling. The subject of active transport was one key area highlighted in the recent Asia and the Pacific Transport Forum 2024, hosted at the headquarters of the Asian Development Bank from May 14 to 17.
That is the basis of the recommendation, repeated several times by experts from all over the world during the forum, that active transport policy and planning should be carried out in the same manner and with equal weight as any other form of transport infrastructure because it is actually a part of any other transport development.
