PH crosses 40,000-mark in COVID19 cases, records single-day high at 1,531
MANILA — The Philippines breached the 40,000 mark in COVID-19 cases on Friday, with the 1,531 additional cases the highest number reported in a single day since the start of the pandemic.
Fresh cases refer to those whose test results were released within the last 3 days, while late cases are those whose results were released four days ago or earlier. While NCR is still the epicenter of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country, Region 7’s Cebu province and Cebu City have been identified as hotspots. Because of this, Cebu City remains under a strict enhanced community quarantine. The DOH also reported a record-high 400 new recovered patients or a total 11,073 recoveries.“Today's fresh cases are based on the daily accomplishment reports submitted by only 57 out of 73 current operational labs,” the DOH said in its report.
