Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V’landys will be hosted by President Joe Biden at a dinner inside the White House ahead of the NRL’s trip to Las Vegas.

Mr Albanese is an avid rugby league fan supporting the South Sydney Rabbitohs – who will participate in the Las Vegas season launch – and invited Mr V’landys last month. “As a sport we’ve tried to break into the US before and failed. But we’ve never tapped on the door of the biggest power players in the country that you need to be successful in the US market. Peter V’landys is doing that.”
The 65,000-seat Allegiant Stadium – home to the Las Vegas Raiders NFL side – will be the host ground for the unprecedented doubleheader and the NRL’s marketing ploy to the US. The Rabbitohs have travelled to America before playing an exhibition match against the Leeds Rhinos in January 2008 at Jacksonville Florida’s Hodges Stadium at the University of North Florida.
