Keputusan PRN malam ini dijangka mencetuskan seruan agar Presiden Umno Zahid Hamidi, dikatakan sekutu Anwar Ibrahim paling rapat, berundur.
PN juga menunjukkan prestasi memberangsangkan di kerusi majoriti Melayu di Pulau Pinang, Selangor dan Negeri Sembilan. Zahid menangkis gesaan agar beliau berundur selepas PRU15 dan terus mengukuhkan cengkamannya dalam parti itu apabila jawatan presiden tidak dibenar dipertandingkan pada pemilihan parti tahun ini.
