A parliamentary inquiry has been told Premier Dominic Perrottet’s brother and a Liberal party associate asked a Sydney businessman to fund a branch-stacking operation to unseat Scott Morrison’s right-hand man Alex Hawke.

Premier Dominic Perrottet’s brother and a Liberal Party associate asked a Sydney businessman for $50,000 to fund a branch-stacking operation to unseat Scott Morrison’s right-hand man Alex Hawke from his federal electorate, an inquiry has been told.

“The member [Hawke], whatever I might think of him, he was elected by the voters, and it’s up to them to unseat him, not me.” The allegations raised by Williams have been referred to the Independent Commission Against Corruption. Upper house Greens MP Sue Higginson on Wednesday lambasted the witnesses for deliberately ducking their summons, adding that multiple attempts by parliamentary staff to serve them personally had been unsuccessful.
