The action comes as Mr Perrottet and the party’s executive attempt to stop the number of women in the Liberals’ state parliamentary team from diminishing, following a slew of preselections where female candidates were overlooked in favour of men.It follows the federal election review that found the Liberal Party’s perception among women to be one of its biggest weaknesses.
“This is a great outcome for women and the stability of the parliamentary party to ensure we win in March,” Mr Kean said. “This is gender parity on the Upper House ticket.” But the three MPs aren’t the only sitting members whose political careers are likely to be terminated by the decision.
