Claude Charbonneau is a longtime volunteer who has spent decades contributing to Percy Playground
A unanimous city council decided this week to rename Percy Playground in the Flour Mill neighbourhood as Parc Claude Charbonneau Park, after a longtime volunteer.
“Through discussions, it became clear early on that both Percy Leonard Johns, owner of the property, and Claude Charbonneau share similar values and visions for the community,” Landry-Altmann wrote in a letter in this week’s city council agenda. “He understood and cared for the community and wanted to support its residents in any way he could.”
“Claude has always advocated for the Flour Mill and helping those who are in need. Mr. Charbonneau’s values and generosity can be sen within this community as well as through the achievements of his children.” “Growing up near Percy Playground is where I made many happy memories, spending hours playing, making friends and affording me the opportunity to be a kid,” he said.
