IPOH: The Perak government is planning to come out with new rules and regulations on single-use plastic, says Teh Kok Lim.
The state environment committee chairman said engagement sessions are currently being held with stakeholders, including consumers and manufacturers, on how to handle the issue."Among the things that we will look into include getting rid of single-use plastics, but not the plastics for product packaging purposes," he said in a press conference after opening a recycling awareness programme at SJKC Bandar Seri Botani in Simpang Pulai here on Wednesday .
"We want to encourage the community and the general public not to use single-use plastic bags as carriers and to use recyclable ones," he added.Teh said he believes that recycling is the way forward when it comes to handling plastic waste.
