KEPALA BATAS: Five family members were among seven locals arrested by police during a drug bust involving RM1.505mil worth of methamphetamine.
Penang police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the suspects, aged between 26 and 54, were arrested during two operations conducted by the state Narcotics Crime Investigation Department between Jan 28 and 30.
"During the first raid in Pokok Sena, the five were arrested when police raided a house at about 8.45pm."Checks found two of them to be siblings and others related within the family. "Police found 11 packets labeled as Chinese tea and two packets containing powder and cubes of methamphetamine weighing 11.45kg worth RM412,112," he said during a press conference on Wednesday .
Comm Shuhaily said two more suspects were arrested the following day during another raid at a kiosk in Bandar Bertam Perdana where 30 plastic bags labeled as Chinese tea and 30.36kg of methamphetamine worth RM1.093mil were seized. The suspects have been remanded for six days until Feb 3 to assist investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act.Article type: free
