People fleeing fires being asked to register at Emergency Reception Centre at Kin Centre

The city has set up an Evacuation Reception Centre at Exhibition Park at the Kin Centre lounge at 2187 Ospika Blvd.

Evacuees from the Peace River region who could not find accommodation in Dawson Creek are being directed to Prince George and are being asked to register at the emergency reception centre next to Kin 1 arena. Fort St. John has issued an evacuation alert. An evacuation order remains in effect for Doig River First Nation northwest of Fort St. John. Charlie Lake and Cameron River is also under an evacuation order.

Prince George is currently under a blanket of smoke from the Peace River region fires. Residents should try to stay indoors and minimize physical activity to avoid the damaging health effects of breathing particulate matter in that smoke.
