Patrick Roy could return to an NHL bench after Memorial Cup triumph

The Hall-of-Famer won his second Memorial Cup over the weekend. Next stop: New York?

Patrick Roy, already one of hockey’s true icons, added another trophy to his loaded resume when he led the QMJHL Quebec Remparts to Memorial Cup glory with an upset victory over the WHL Seattle Thunderbirds. Roy’s second Memorial Cup as a coach could lead to interest from NHL teams. On Monday’s edition of, hosts Tyler Yaremchuk and Frank Seravalli discussed if and when Roy will accept his first NHL gig since 2016.The Quebec Remparts had a really interesting run to the Memorial Cup.

Think of all the things that this guy has won. Three Vezinas, five Jennings, four Stanley Cups, and three Conn Smyhtes. Winning the QMJHL Championship and now the Memorial Cup as a coach adds to a trophy cabinet that already has a Jack Adams. This guy has won everything humanly possible. Roy has a Jack Adams at the NHL level and has now won again back in junior. I think he’s chomping at the bit for another NHL opportunity. We’ll see if the Rangers come calling.
