Beyond Blue and Lifeline Former CEO Dawn O’Neil says the book about the officers in the Lindt Café siege is still “very fresh” in their memory as she calls for a parliamentary inquiry into “woefully inadequate” PTSD support for police. “We very much understand from Ben’s book that it was some years later at another siege … where his PTSD was finally diagnosed,” Ms O’Neil said.
“The level of support he received when he did reach out for help was woefully inadequate; it did not last very long. “From Ben’s story, officer A’s story, we can hear that the cries for help were really not heard and the response was not adequate.”
