House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano has set into motion the plan to turn the House of Representatives into a

“We were informed this afternoon that the Speaker has approved in principle the amount needed for a paperless House,” Cavite 7th district Rep. Jesus Cristin “Boying” Remulla said in a press conference Tuesday.

Also attending the presser were Majority Floor Leader, Leyte 1st district Rep. Martin Romualdez; and Deputy Majority Leader, Zamboanga Sibugay 1st district Rep. Wilter Palma. Going paperless means going fully digital in both plenary proceedings and committee work in the 305-strong House. “As you can see, in the plenary, there are thick piles of paper on our tables. There was a study conducted last Congress and it was found out that every year, for every regular session of the House, the House is spending P9 million for paper alone, and that excludes printing. With the cost of printing, that balloons to P12 to P15 million a year,” Palma said.Remulla chimed in: “We also have to look at the Committees.
