With a trip to the World Baseball Classic now out of the mix – the delay left Kirk with too much work to do – everyone around the team can breathe and work at a sensible pace. While disappointed at not being able to represent Team Mexico, Kirk said team and family comes first.
“We’re looking at it like a normal position player coming in at the start of camp to where you give him probably a week or so to get built up before he gets into games,” Schneider said. “He’s been pretty well caught up on doing things, so just making sure he’s good getting his feet underneath him, getting at bats, catching some of the new .”Article content
Accordingly, Schneider is enthused about the impact Kirk can have at the plate and how his versatile approach enhances the lineup. “It’s a unique profile and a really good one to have in the middle of an order. It’ll definitely lengthen out the lineup.”
