The world has come to Calgary for curling.
“It’s very exciting,” said Canada vice-skip Val Sweeting. “It’s fun to meet new people and see new teams and see how the game is growing. It’s just fun to see some of the excitement. Even just seeing some of these teams, they seem really excited to be here, and we’re definitely happy to be a part of it.”
But there are B divisions for both genders taking up the challenge at the WinSport Event Centre, as well, vying for promotion into the A side at next year’s Pan Continentals. “This is a big deal,” continued Raju. “For a country like India in a Winter Olympic sport, this is a big achievement. I hope it inspires a lot of people. both in India and Indians living overseas, to try the sport so that hopefully we’ll see more people pick up the sport and play.”
