Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has welcomed all of the recommendations put forward in the state's forensic DNA testing inquiry and announced $95 million has been put aside to deliver the reforms.

Mr Sofronoff on Tuesday handed down his 520-page report which found thousands of criminal cases across the state had been compromised by poor DNA testing dating back to 2008.

Try 1 month free now > The Cabinet Budget Review Committee will establish Forensic Science Queensland with an independent board of management who will report to Health Minister Yvette D’Ath and Attorney-General Shannon Fentiman.

“In the longer-term, we will look to establish a Queensland forensic agency under the Justice and Attorney-General portfolio, in line with its fundamental role contributing to the integrity of the justice system,” Ms Palaszczuk said. The Health Minister also thanked the nine public servants who spoke up about the issues within the Queensland forensic services in the inquiry despite the risk to their own careers.
