Philippine National Police (PNP) operatives seized a massive amount of illegal drugs, valued at P32.4 million, in Benguet, Kalinga, and Baguio City on January 23. Two suspected drug pushers were also apprehended during the operations.
CAMP DANGWA, Benguet – Police authorities conducted a series of successful operations on Thursday, January 23, resulting in the seizure of illegal drugs worth a staggering P32.4 million and the apprehension of two suspected drug pushers operating in Benguet, Kalinga, and Baguio City. The largest haul was uncovered in Kalinga, where a joint police operation discovered four marijuana plantations in Barangay Tulgao West, Tinglayan.
A staggering 22,000 fully grown marijuana plants and 230 grams of dried marijuana leaves and stalks, estimated to have a street value of P32 million, were confiscated from these sites.Further operations led to the discovery of an additional 1,600 fully grown marijuana plants scattered across three plantations in Barangay Tacadang, Kibungan, and Barangay Sagubo, Kapangan, both in Benguet. These plants, with an estimated street value of P320,000, were also seized by the authorities.The two suspects, a 27-year-old female from Tabuk City, Kalinga, and a 26-year-old male from Baguio City, were apprehended during separate buy-bust operations. The female suspect, considered a street-level individual, was caught during a search warrant operation in Tabuk City, where eight sachets of suspected shabu weighing approximately 13.1 grams and valued at P89,080 were recovered. Meanwhile, the male suspect, also classified as a street-level individual, was apprehended in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Burnham-Legarda, Baguio City, and yielded approximately 0.71 grams of shabu worth P4,828.Police authorities in the Cordillera region have assured the public that the ongoing campaign against illegal drugs remains steadfast and unwavering. They vowed to continue their efforts in dismantling drug trafficking networks and protecting the communities from the harmful effects of narcotics
