Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals at the Island Petroleum Energy Centre on Dec. 10. - Jason SimmondsSUMMERSIDE, P.E.I. — A Prince Edward Islander has steadily worked his way from a rookie paying his dues to a go-to veteran in the Maritime Junior Hockey League .
Vos, who has 28 points and 10 goals in 26 regular-season games, has earned a spot on the Mariners’ first line alongside Reilly Mayne and Ryan Semple.'Best day of my life': Summerside Western Capitals help turn a young fan’s disappointment into a day to remember In his sophomore season, Vos’s offensive production increased to 29 points in 38 regular-season games.
“He does a little bit of everything — power play, kills penalties, plays against the other team’s top line,” said Barron, the 2021-22 MHL coach of the year. “For a 19-year-old, it’s a big role, and he’s flourished doing it. “He basically took the roles that were given to him, kept his nose to the grindstone and it paid off,” said Barron. “He’s a very, very good player this year. He’s going to be one of our ultimate leaders next year, and he’s going to put together quite a junior career.”
“Personally, I just want to be the best player I can for this team,” said Vos, who said growing up he played a two-way game with a focus on defensive play. “I really want to win with this group, and I think we have the group to do it. I’m excited to see what we can pull off.”
