Premier Dennis King is seeking re-election in Brackley-Hunter River in the next provincial election.

King himself will be nominated as the candidate for Brackley-Hunter River - Stu Neatby - Stu NeatbyBRACKLEY, P.E.I. — Barring any major surprise, Premier Dennis King will become the last official Progressive Conservative candidate on Monday night.The PC’s announced March 3 that King’s official nomination event as candidate for Brackley-Hunter River will take place the evening of March 6.
The province’s spring sitting of the legislative assembly is scheduled to begin on March 7. An election call would effectively halt the legislative sitting. A media release announcing King’s nomination meeting pointed to his record of leadership over the last four years during periods of crisis, including the COVID-19 pandemic, the Fiona storm and other trade disruptions.
Liberal leader Sharon Cameron has focused her criticism in recent weeks on the premier’s handling of health-care issues. A recent press statement focused on the 27,000 Island residents who lack a family doctor or primary caregiver as well as closures of emergency rooms at rural hospitals.
