“We had a call back from the head of the family thanking us for what we did and for advising them on how they can do things safely going forward.’’He said most generators come with manufacturer’s instructions telling people to keep the machines at least 20 to 25 feet away from the house.
“We understand that as long as power is out people are going to pivot to purchasing generators and run them longer but we really can’t reinforce enough that you run them properly and safely,’’ Mullally said. In a given year, it would get about 700 emergency calls. In the five days that followed Fiona, more than 150 calls have come in. And, Mayme is concerned about the types of calls coming in as people deal with power loss.
