Bruce Cockburn: 50 years of music, spirituality and social justice | SaltWireBRACKLEY BEACH, P.E.I. — The P.E.I. National park is getting a facelift as contractors will remove the asphalt from Robinsons Island Road, replacing it with gravel for the new multi-use trail beginning on Oct. 16.

During this time, heavy equipment will relocate the asphalt to various locations within P.E.I. National Park, including Bubbling Springs, Stanhope Lane, Stanhope Campground and Cavendish Campground. Traffic control will be in place at these locations, as well as at the Brackley Beach crosswalk. Visitors are advised to exercise caution, respect all on-site signage, and follow instructions from the contractors.

Robinsons Island Road has been closed to vehicle traffic since post-tropical storm Fiona in September 2022, and endured damage and erosion from wave action and storm surges over the years. The removal of the asphalt aims to prevent it from being washed into adjacent waterways in future storms.
