Sydney was brought to life on Saturday night for the 45th Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras as the Prime Minister and NSW Opposition Leader marched side-by-side down the city’s iconic Oxford St.
“It’s unfortunate that I am the first, but this is a celebration of modern Australia,” he said.
The parade marks the halfway point of the two-week Sydney WorldPride festival – which is estimated to inject $800 million into the New South Wales economy.
