Over charging taxi driver arrested at NAIA

Based on the complaint received by MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal, passenger Wang Wei and her friends arrived from Dumaguete at around 2:00pm Friday and boarded a white taxi with license plate number TXV 149 from NAIA Terminal 3 to Terminal 1. The driver who was later on identified as Eugene Del Rosario allegedly initially asked for P2,600. He changed his charge to P6,000 which Del Rosario allegedly said was discounted.

Immediate coordination was done by T1 Police with the T3 Police unit. An alarm was issued to all units tagging the taxi’s license plate. This led to the arrest of driver Eugene Del Rosario at around 4pm as he was lining up at the taxi lane of NAIA Terminal 3 and waiting for his next victim. Del Rosario was immediately accosted, found in his possession was the six thousand pesos paid to him by the complainant. It was also learned that Del Rosario was arrested last July 8, 2019 for illegal parking for which his license was confiscated. He was driving with only an Official Violation Receipt when spotted yesterday in Terminal 3.

The P6,000.00 recovered from the driver is now under the safekeeping of the Police Intelligence and Investigation Division . They are waiting for the return of Ms. Wang Wei to file her formal complaint affidavit to be used as basis for the filing of appropriate case against driver Eugene Del Rosario.

MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal recognized the swift action of the Airport Police Department under Col. Rizaldy Matito.
