KUALA LUMPUR: More than half a billion ringgit worth of drugs were seized following various operations nationwide this year.
Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department said 26 tonnes of drugs as well as 5,175 litres of drugs in liquid form were seized between Jan 3 and April 12.
A total of 217,553 individuals were detained this year for several drug-related offences, the NCID said."One of the biggest syndicates was in Sabah, which trafficked ecstasy and drug-laced juices at entertainment outlets. Under a special operation codenamed Ops Tapis Khas, the NCID targeted drug dens, Felda settlements, people's housing projects and illegal jetties nationwide.
"We also seized 4,633kg and 19,077 litres of drugs worth RM40.9mil during the operation," the NCID said.
