Quezon, which remains under general community quarantine with heightened restrictions, has been seeing an alarming surge in COVID-19 cases amid the ongoing threat of the highly transmissible Delta variant.Last month, Quezon recorded the highest monthly tallies in new cases and fatalities since the pandemic started in 2020.On Sept. 30, at least 286 of the total deaths were recorded, or an average of nine deaths daily.The province has 2,038 active infections as of Oct.
Lucena City, the Quezon capital, which will remain under strict modified enhanced community quarantine until Oct. 15, topped the list with 462 active virus carriers.
