More than 2,900 families were affected following the magnitude 5.9 earthquake that struck Davao de Oro last March 7, according to the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) on Thursday.

OCD Joint Information Center head Diego Agustin Mariano said more than 60 residents were injured and around 1,800 families were taking shelter in evacuation centers.

Mariano said a power interruption also occurred in Davao de Oro, however, it was immediately restored. The OCD official, meanwhile, encouraged the public to join the first quarter national simultaneous earthquake drill on Thursday.
