It looks like Queensland could be hosting the largest tribute to Tina Turner in July... Birdsville's Big Red Bash currently holds the world record for the biggest Nutbush City Limits dance and they're hoping to beat this year. Previous record break:
An Outback Queensland festival has broken the world record for the number of people dancing to a popular Tina Turner song by luring 4084 boot-scooting dancers to Birdsville.Dance is almost 30-times the normal population of Birdsville. It was set at the Big Red Bash on Thursday, beating the event’s previous mark of 2878, set last year. The venue, as ever, was a patch of dirt beside the Simpson Desert’s legendary 40-metre-high Big Red dune.
The Bash has seen the population of Birdsville grow from about 150 people to several thousand, and helped raise more than $60,000 for the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Festival owner Greg Donovan told the crowd he was pleased to see so many people supporting the event.“We all have a fantastic time doing this dance each year, and the money you pay to participate goes directly to the RFDS – every cent of it, so thank you so much,” he said.
