Fire crews are battling a new out-of-control wildfire Thursday night near Port Alberni.

Air tanker making a drop on wildfire near Port Alberni Thursday night.The BC Wildfire Service’s online ‘Wildfires Map’ shows the fire started at Arbutus Mountain, west of Port Alberni, and just east of Devils Den Lake.The Coastal Fire Centre says the fire is 0.3 hectares in size, and was first discovered shortly before 7 p.m. Thursday.
