HALIFAX — The federal government is providing $6.7 million to two programs that assist homeless veterans in Nova Scotia.

One group, Veterans Emergency Transition Services Canada , is getting $5.2 million to help veterans experiencing homelessness or who are at risk of being homeless.

The five-year federal program included $72.9 million for rent supplements and counselling services and $6.2 million for research on veteran homelessness. According to the 2021 Census, there were an estimated 461,240 Canadian veterans, about 2,600 of whom were experiencing homelessness.Sunwing Vacations and Inclusive Collection, part of World of Hyatt, have Canadians living in the lap of luxury with reduced rates and exclusive perks

The Catholic Church and Church of Ireland both expressed sadness at the passing of the former Catholic Bishop of Down and Connor.
