An Ottawa police officer who admitted donating money to the \u0022Freedom Convoy\u0022 pleaded guilty Thursday to one count of discreditable conduct under the Police Services Act.
The Ottawa Police Service’s professional standards section confirmed Const. Kristina Neilson’s plea, the service said in an email Friday. A day earlier, hundreds of vehicles had formed convoys headed for Ottawa for what would become a “complete blockade” of the area around Parliament Hill starting Jan. 28.Article content The next day, Neilson’s donation was automatically refunded by GoFundMe after the platform determined that the fundraiser violated its terms of service. Then on Feb. 5, she donated $55 to the convoy via GiveSendGo, according to the agreed statement of facts, though it was also automatically refunded on March 25.
Most of the convoy had been cleared by Feb. 21, “at substantial cost to taxpayers,” the agreed statement of facts notes.
