A Bruyère Academic Family Health Team nurse met patients to discuss how lifestyle changes can help manage pain and trim reliance on opioids.
By the end of the study, 42.9 per cent of patients who used opioids had reduced their dosages. One participant completely eliminated opioid use.

Linda Fritsch, a patient with the Bruyère Academic Family Health Team, suffers from osteoarthritis and chronic pain in her feet. The pain has for years interfered with her ability to play with her grandchildren and to take part in favourite activities such as dragon boat racing.Fritsch, a retired teacher, joined the chronic pain management program in January.
