Sports Canada to prohibit the use of nondisclosure agreements
In the wake of a series of scandals and allegations, Sports Canada announced Thursday the creation of an oversight body with the mandate of holding national sports organizations accountable.
“Our connection to the sports system is through the funding we provide to organizations. We will use this as a lever for change,” she said. “The concrete measures I have announced today are part of a long-term shift to turn the tide on a much-needed culture change in sport,” St-Onge said in a statement. “The new mandatory requirements will increase the accountability of sport organizations, improve governance practices, and prioritize athlete representation in decision-making structures.”
