'There will be zero tolerance for drivers who direct anything less than 100 per cent of their attention to driving'
Police agencies across the province will be on the lookout for high-risk driving behaviour this coming long weekend, including impaired driving, distracted driving, speeding, and seatbelt and other safety compliance issues.
"With the public travelling to and from their weekend destinations, road users should expect to see much higher volumes of traffic," says a news release from the Ontario Provincial Police. "There will be zero tolerance for drivers who direct anything less than 100 per cent of their attention to driving."Between Oct. 7 and 10, 2022, the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police along with members of the Sault Ste. Marie Detachment and the Sault Ste.
The Big 4 consists of alcohol/drug impaired, distracted driving, speeding and lack of occupant restraints. These high-risk behaviours account for the majority of motor vehicle collision fatalities and are completely preventable. Officers are urging motorists to "put your best foot forward" and drive safely this Thanksgiving weekend.
