Police say accused has been a member of the service for 34 years and remains off work on an unrelated leave of absence
Around 11 a.m. on May 27, Temiskaming OPP was called to a Highway 11 business for a customer making threats.
Claude Gagne, a 64-year-old resident of Thornloe, was charged with three counts of uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm. "The accused has been a member of the Ontario Provincial Police for 34 years," the OPP said in a news release. "While assigned the Temiskaming Detachment, the member remains off work on an unrelated leave of absence."
The accused was released from custody and is slated to appear in court on June 20 in Temiskaming Shores. None of the charges have been tested in court, and the accused officer is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
