A North York man is facing charges after a hit-and-run on Highway 401 in Toronto.
A maintenance worker was struck in the eastbound collector lanes of the highway near Victoria Park Avenue around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday. OPP say the man, who was driving a black 2018 Corvette, went through a road closure and hit the worker as they were helping with line painting. The worker, who is described as a 24-year-old Markham man, suffered serious, life-altering injuries and remains in hospital.In an update Wednesday afternoon, OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt shared police had taken the driver into custody.
The North York man, 24, has been charged with dangerous driving causing bodily harm and failing to stop at the scene of a crash , along with driving while suspended.File photo credited to OPPCtrl+Enter
