It does seem like the team has trouble getting up for games against lesser opponents. But lesser opponents have no trouble getting up for the Leafs. Part of it might be the number of GTA players on every team. Part of it might be lesser teams being afraid to be embarrassed with the national spotlight on them.before things heat up with the formerly lowly Buffalo Sabres.the team went .

. “The minute that we start to lose our focus is the minute that we’re going to really start to give it back. And that’s not what we want to do. Our job is to continue to chip away at it, put together a strong month here and then stack that on with next month and see if we can. Tampa is right there on us, so we can’t take anything for granted for a second, especially in this division in this conference.

If they do cede second place and home-ice advantage for the first round they’ll have only themselves — and games against non-playoff teams — to blame. And if they stumble to the March 3 trade deadline it will put so much more pressure on Dubas to make a tangible move.
