Ontario-wide blitz for online child predators leads to 107 arrests Via SunDoucette
While Project Maverick was a month-long blitz, officers from across Ontario identify online predators every day as part of the Provincial Strategy, which began in 2006 and has so far completed 65,564 investigations and laid 24,608 charges against 6,540 people.“The work done by the Provincial Strategy members take us to some of the darkest corners of society and exposes the horrific crimes committed every day against children,” said OPP Det.-Sgt. Jamie King, Provincial Strategy Lead.
“The Internet and rapid growth in technology have given predators the opportunity to exploit children anywhere in the world,” he said. “Through the Provincial Strategy, we are working together with our law enforcement, government and community agency partners to do everything we can to ensure children are kept safe online.”Article contentOnur Ozbek was released on bail and a court date is pending.
