Three months later, in May 2020, the province’s ministry of transport announced it was abandoning the redesigned licence plates. Yet three years later, no fix has been publicly announced. A government official told the Star that after “thorough testing by law enforcement and other key stakeholders,” the province is no longer moving forward with the proposed redesign.
