NDP Leader Andrea Horwarth likened the PC plan to The Hunger Games
TORONTO — Ontario’s education minister defended a plan to increase high school class sizes Wednesday by saying today’s students lack resiliency and coping skills.
When asked Wednesday how the changes would benefit students, Thompson said they would help students become more employable. “So by increasing class sizes in high school we’re preparing them for the reality of post secondary as well as the world of work.” Harvey Bischof, president of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation, said he’s seen no evidence that larger class sizes and less attention for students leads to resilience.
