‘One voice, one vision’: Stampeders coach Dickenson takes on GM duties CFL
“I’m a big proponent of having one voice, one vision,” said Hufnagel of putting Dickenson in the GM/head coach chair. “I believe that it can be a winning formula. Not that having two different people at those positions is any worse or any better. That’s just what I believe.”He was both GM and head coach himself for the Stampeders from 2008-15, winning the Grey Cup twice in that span.
Meanwhile, Dickenson has been a coach for the Red & White for those same 14 years. He became head coach in 2016, when Hufnagel stepped away from the sidelines to focus on GM responsibilities and fit himself for new role as team president. Dickenson started coaching with the Stamps in 2009 after completing his 12-year hall-of-fame career as a player in both the CFL and NFL.Article content
Indeed, it’s Dickenson’s job now to pull the trigger on talent and build on the same success enjoyed by Hufnagel in that department. Dickenson also takes a seat league’s GM table, promising to offer a new voice while listening to those around him in hoping to help the CFL into the future.That’s, of course, in addition to preparing the players to win games.
