Travel restrictions continued to be spread around the region

There are currently 34 active fires in the Northeast Region of Ontario, according to an Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services news release.As of early Tuesday evening, there is one new confirmed fire in the region. Kirkland Lake 5 is located eight kilometers north of Lady Evelyn Smoothwater and 10 kilometers south of Highway 65. The 500-hectare fire is not yet under control.

All persons must immediately evacuate the area, including the Townships of; Olinyk, Plourde , Prescott, Redden , Strain, Teasdale, Poncet, Lehman, Lockeyer, Gerow and Gaiashik, unless authorized by a travel permit issued by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry;Wawa 3, which began on May 27, is not yet under control and has reduced in size by ~20 hectares at 6678. An Incident Management Team is established and suppression is ongoing.
